Fine Floral Design Antique Persian Khorassan Area Rug, Persia, c. 1920’s – Here is an exceptionally finely woven and beautiful antique Oriental rug – an antique Khorassan carpet, woven in Persia during the second or third decade of the twentieth century. Characterized by a graceful and elegant composition, this antique Khorassan is a truly impeccably woven example, replete with precise line work throughout. First, the series of borders that surround the field are especially comely; a series of narrow, golden inner and outer borders surround an inner border of pale blue. Lovely detail work, paisleys and vine scrolls, flowers and blossoms, dot this border, where an inscription also stands. Within the border, and elegant pattern unfolds against a background of pale red gold. Beautifully rendered vases of pale blue throughout. Outward from these vases emerge a sinuous and elegant arrangement of vine scrolls, palmettes, and floral details. The overall impression is one of sophistication and mastery of execution. An impressive pattern, appealing color pallet, and exceptional workmanship make this antique Khorassan carpet a truly remarkable antique Oriental rug.
