Antique Indian Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1920 -A trio of linked hexagonal medallions sits at the center of this antique Indian rug. Two blue forms brimming with highly stylized floral decorations are chained to a red figure in the center, a smaller white shape in its middle. Red and blue flowers with angular leaves both fill and surround these medallions, adding decoration to every square inch of the white central field. They vary widely in size and form, but the chaos is anchored by an overall symmetry around the hexagons. An edging of lovely diagonal striping works around the largest flowers, leading to a set of matching borders ornamented with geometric blossoms.
