Antique Turkish Oushak Rug, Turkey, Late 19th Century – This phenomenal antique Turkish rug created in Oushak depicts a stunning series of tessellating trilateral motifs outlined with intricate notched details. The bold geometric motifs are arranged in slanting rows that create colored stripes. Each trilateral figure is embellished with a unique symbolic motif that follows the well-planned color scheme. Decorative berekets, endless knots and ancient Anatolian symbols appear throughout the intricate and beautifully colored field. The ornamental borders depict serrated pillars and a variety of trilateral amulets rendered in a lovely combination of alternating colors. The intricate guard bands feature a n outstanding counter change pattern decorated with interlocking crenellated motifs that flatter the stunning selection of soft pink, oxidized kohl black, ocher and Mediterranean orange, which appears throughout the beautifully patterned field.
