The monumental scale or proportion of the design resembles Sultanabad rugs or Mahal carpets and is unusual among Tabriz carpets. While the palette here is light and decorative, the finesse and detail of the various elements are remarkably faithful to the classical Persian prototypes. The vine-scroll palmette border is smaller and more delicately proportioned, offering an effective balance to the grandeur of the field.
