Large Antique Polonaise Design Indian Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1920– An elaborate decoration spills over the body of this antique Indian rug, swirling with small, perfect blossoms. The mirrored design creates a kaleidoscopic effect, its brown and yellow shapes seeming frozen in a beautiful moment in time. Tiny leaves spring from the dark green stems that run through the pattern, linking blossoms together. A tiny border with a jagged, fractal line encloses the area, itself edged with even, black line-work to define the shape of the large Polonaise antique Indian rug. A wide band backed with tan follows, filled with leafy figures and ornate, blooming flowers. A final slim bar, studded with minute leaves and pale flowers, completes the antique rug.
