Beautiful Large Green Background Antique Indian Agra Rug, Country Of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1900 — The location of the famed Taj Mahal, Agra is also well known for the abundant and creative production of many Indian crafts, including carpet weaving. Many of the Oriental rugs that were made in Agra, the capital of the Mughal Empire, followed classic designs and motifs of customary Persian rugs. This unique greed background antique Indian Agra rug displays an exquisite lattice pattern across the middle panel, with intricate blossoms and serrated leaves. A highly detailed, whimsical design of flowers fills the layers of bordering frames. While the primary background was executed in pale beige, the coloring of the central panel also exhibits a gentle blending of green and yellow bands, granting an intriguing presentation to the whole carpet. Most of the trailing vines is prominent in red, yet pastel imagery in the borders lends a pretty, decorative touch. Altogether, this large size greed background antique Indian Agra rug is an elegant presentation of the Agra style.
