Fine Antique Silk Tabriz Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Woven entirely in silk, this magnificent large garden design antique silk Persian Tabriz rug is one of the most spectacular examples of its kind. The cruciform scheme, subdivided further into smaller rectangular frames follows classical Persian formal landscape design. The trees and shrubberies within the latter represent the actual components of the garden. Some of the small frames, however, contain mihrabs of prayer niches, reminding us that this is not just any garden, but a vision of paradise. The extremely soft palette of blues, saffron, and terracotta duly complements the fine detail and silk material of the carpet.
