Mythical dragon medallions represent duality, yin and yang, and spiritual power. In China, dragons are emblems of the emperor as well as astrological symbols that represent immortality and happiness. According to legend, the mythical dragon is also responsible for controlling the weather. Prominent dragon medallions decorate the soft ecru field while broad chestnut brown bands and wide fretwork borders continue the restrained color scheme. Reciprocating T-shape guard bands, endless fretwork borders and monochromatic outer borders create a formal frame for the stark field while completing the elegant composition and continuing the chic indigo, ecru and warm chestnut brown color scheme.
