Antique Indian Amritsar Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1920– This fiery-hued Indian rug features a riotous pattern of stems and flowers crossing and filling the central field on this antique rug. Their light yellow and orange shades are carefully edged with thin lines of a dark red-brown, which also gracefully twines around the central design to indicate the tilted square shape of a medallion. Deep red accents the centerpiece and creeps in along the edges, its rich darkness drawing the eye. A trio of bands forms the border of this Amritsar, two smaller and filled with a regular pattern of white and yellow. The widest contains alternating stylized forms, like a mixture of flower and flame.
