Characterized by a mesmerizing pallet as well as particularly well executed, classical Oushak design, this antique Turkish carpet is truly an exceptional example. Beginning with the borders and working inward, one encounters an exciting series of surprises throughout this splendid carpet. The primary border is bold and assertive in fiery orange, made all the more brilliant by the pair of pale golden outer borders and the dark inner border, all of which feature traditional Oushak design elements. It is within the field, however, that this spectacular carpet really stands out. Here, a complex tangle of rectilinear vine scrolls supports a network of beautifully woven, geometric floral details. Set against a background hue of pale gold, the blues, pinks, purples and reds that characterize the detail work stand out brilliantly.
