Its horned and maned body twists upon the center of the piece, and firm black stitches pick out the direct stare of its eyes. Flowery cloud-bands and windy swirls in antique sand colors and the light mauve surround the central dragon, their shapes echoed along the outer border, which is separated from the central picture by a seemingly blank trim. A labyrinthine pattern in a shade barely darker than the body of the rug advances around that rectangular section, creating a complex anchor for the overall piece.
