Antique Persian Kerman Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920– This complex and well-balanced antique Persian rug features a complementary design in steely blue-gray shades with light oranges. Symmetrical about the vertical axis, an ornate pattern weaves about the central dark blue field. A tiny, simplistically designed orange daisy rests face-up in the very center, allowing the more complex decoration to spring forth into every corner of this antique rug. Matching bands with unpretentious pale flowers and spiked leaves surround a wider border. Lovely, lavish floral rug design elements, linked by dark stems and vines, fill the orange-hued bar, alternating light and dark forms. Small five-petaled flowers sway from the larger figures to fill the spaces between.
