This large room-sized rug produced in the Khorassan region of Persia – between northeast Iran and modern-day Afghanistan features an all-over pattern of staggered cypress trees and bird-flanked trees surrounded by a Lotto-esque border. In addition to cypress trees that reflect eternal life, each motif in this beautiful antique Khorassan Oriental rug is surrounded to two good luck birds flanking a tree to symbolize happiness. Overall, the carpet reflects a surprising Anatolian influence with the addition of highly-detailed designs inspired by the Safavids and Mughals, who surround the Khorassan region.
