A Beautiful And Finely Woven Large Scale Design Antique Persian Kerman Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th century – This fine aristocratic antique Persian Kerman rug is exceptional for the grand scale and the stately presence of its classical Persian design. At the center a quatrefoil of four linked palmettes anchors a larger array of swirling vines, palmettes, medallions leafy sprays in golden and pale blue tones all set arrestingly against a blue-black ground. The various vine scroll borders are so densely worked they attain golden uniformity reminiscent of fine jewelry that serves as the ideal frame for the bolder graphic contrasts of the field design.
