Antique Khorassan from Northeast Persia, circa 1900 – A stunning design of large spiraling vines burgeons upward from vases and palmettes along the lower edge of the field on this magnificent antique Khorassan. A vast array of palmettes and small flowers fills the intervening space within and between the spiral volutes. The scale of the motifs is somewhat reduced in the borders, yielding fully to the grandeur of the field. The coloration of golden tones on blue, reminiscent of lapis lazuli and gold jewelry, works beautifully with the filigree effects of the field.
