Antique Persian Tehran Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1930– Delectably vibrant colors create a diamond-shaped medallion on this antique Persian rug. An herbal green fills the background of the medallion, which showcases an elaborate Tehran design of vivid lines swooping and merging to create a kaleidoscopic structure set with lotuses. The diamond sits on a white field, cradled with detailed, multicolored plants that grow from spots along the sides. Blue-black vines curl into each corner on green backgrounds, their curves accented by diminutive flowers. The rich colors continue through the borders, accentuating black and white floral motifs. The largest band is backed with sage green and bears alternating blue and white stylized lotus blossoms.
