The wavy corner pieces in blue pick up the outline of the central roundel. The magnificent border adapts the undulating format as a grand frame for the entire composition in shades of soft purple, gold, and green. Throughout, the carpet is graced by a rich array of classic Persian arabesques and palmettes. The rich but delicate palette of the carpet appears all the more lovely because of the use of lustrous silk pile.
