Known is the ideal decorators’ carpet, this antique Persian Dorokhsh rug is part of a regional sub-type associated with Khorassan. The Dorokhsh region is known for producing lavishly styled carpets for export to France. Reminiscent of ornate European carpets, this elegant Dorokhsh rug features an ornate floral arabesque set over a light blue field. Rendered in an elegant curvilinear style that is a unique Persian rug pattern, this lavish Dorokhsh rug features a highly decorative arabesque with spiraling tendrils and tremendous Shah Abbasi palmettes. Small-scale guard bands, delicately colored borders decorated with reciprocating floral motifs, and crenellated fence outer borders surround the stylish field.
