Antique Persian Khorassan Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1900– A perfectly tessellated pattern of convex medallions against concave, eight-pointed stars fills the body of this antique Persian area rug. The rounded medallions of the antique Persian Khorassan rug alternate in color and theme across the central field. The black forms are filled with sprays of small flowers, and the shapes backed with pale red each feature a spade-like leaf stitched in blue and surrounded by narrow branches. The white stars between the medallions are centered with many-petaled blue flowers, each ringed by smaller blossoms. Several small to large borders surround the design in the middle, the widest of which is backed with black and contains an interlinked design of floral elements.
