Antique Persian Rugs — Antique Silk Kerman Persian Carpet, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: late nineteenth century – Made and signed by the great master weaver – Aboul Ghasem Kermani, the “master of masters,” this antique Kerman is nothing less than extravagant in its design and coloration. A richly articulated medallion occupies much of the field, almost impinging on the similarly articulated corner pieces. The golden cocoa ground hardly shows through amidst the deep magenta, ivory, and blue ornamental details. This richness continues though into the lush cartouche border, which virtually fuses with the design of the field. The lavishness of the carpet is finally underscored by the all-silk pile.
