Meandering floral sprays woven in ivory, strawberry pink and soft pastels unify the elegant inset medallion that features a bold chestnut brown field, a soft celadon medallion and a creamy papyrus frame with detailed pendants. Ogival cartouches with saffron yellow accents decorate the curvilinear spandrels and complement the arching curves that define the complex medallion. Stunning ivory borders enhanced with a reciprocating pattern of double and single boteh motifs provide a sophisticated frame for this elegant carpet while celadon guard bands embellished with serpentine cloud bands add an Oriental air to this eclectic antique Turkish carpet woven in Kayseri during the 1920s.
