Magnificent Room Size and Decorative Blue and Cream Colored Antique Persian Khorassan Rug, Eastern Persia, circa 1900 – An allover oriental design of large and small cartouches staggered in alternating rows repeats symmetrically across the field of this lavish yet elegant antique Khorassan. Smaller viney details fill the areas between the cartouches. A narrow, understated vine scroll border frames the field. The effect of the cartouche design, however, is subtle since it is articulated primarily through the outlines in dark and light blue and cocoa, while the rest of the carpet is rendered in shades of golden tan.
