Antique Persian Bakhtiari Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rugs, Circa Date: First Quarter of the 20th century (around – 1920) – This striking Bakhtiari rug features a number of geometric floral designs. Within the field, each flower is unique; their sizes and shapes vary but complement each other beautifully. They are arranged between geometric vines and smaller floral motifs to form a loose diamond pattern, though the effect is rather subtle. Of particular interest in this piece is the bright border pattern. The cerulean outer border features colorful, abstract flora and fauna designs while the inner border, a dark shade of saffron, shows a simple geometric pattern. These colorful details offset the deep blue within the field of the Persian rug.
