Stunning midnight blue borders embellished with reciprocating turtles and symbol-covered vines offset the soft ivory spandrels and warm hues featured within the field. The splendid octofoil medallion displays pale salmon pink petals surrounded by a deep pool of dark indigo blue. Well-defined palmettes and articulate vine scrolls with sharp contours and crisp outlines have a stunning effect when set against the contrasting ground. Delicate ivory spandrels filled with stylized florals frame the inset medallion, which is fringed by recurving leaflets. Softly oxidized colors and refined designs give this antique Persian carpet a timeless visage that’s as elegant today as it was over a century ago.
