Finely Woven Red Background Square Shape Antique Floral Persian Sarouk Rug, Persia, circa 1920 – Here is a truly wonderful antique rug – a Sarouk piece made in Persia sometime around 1920. This rug represents something genuinely special, and is a testament to the artisans who produced it. A glorious piece, this rug possesses many of the qualities most sought after by collectors and experts, and would bring beauty and sophistication to any home. This striking carpet from Sarouk features an all-over floral pattern of formal bouquets positioned precisely around a central rosette. Elegant borders with detailed palmettes surrounded by intricate floral swags and double sets of guard bands complement the luminescent red field and formal bouquet patterns of this opulent Sarouk carpet. Simply put, this rug is a remarkable piece of work. A beautiful and sophisticated design and composition combine to make this rug something more than a decorative piece: they combine to make it a veritable work of art.
This rug is extremely fine, the pile is 100% wool that is of a very high grade (which is why it softer to the touch and more luminous in look). Since the size is quite rare, the quality of the wool is better than what we would expect and the weave is finer than most rugs that were woven in the same city which could mean it was a custom order.
