Antique Persian Heriz Serapi Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Turn of the 20th Century – Here is a stunning antique rug – an antique Heriz Serapi carpet, woven in Persia some time around the turn of the twentieth century. Extraordinarily intricate throughout, this comely antique Serapi Persian Heriz carpet is resplendent with classical elements of Persian rug design. First, a series of classical borders, beautifully decorated with precisely drawn vine scrolls and geometric floral elements, bordered on wither side by a fine inner and outer border. Within the field, a classic composition unfolds. Glorious ivory corner pieces, generous in proportions, effectively frame the radiant central medallion. Massive and complex, this medallion is characterized by its richly decorated layers. Pale blue, soft red, and then darkest of blues stand one on top of the other in this medallion, effectively radiating energy throughout the entire composition. The remaining red of the field is also richly wrought with precise and splendid vine scroll and floral elements.
