Rendered in a refined old-world color scheme, this stately antique Persian rug from Tabriz depicts a stunning floral arabesque enclosed by elaborate borders.

Antique Tabriz Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Late 19th Century – Epitomizing the grace and elegance of Persian designs, this elaborate antique rug from Tabriz showcases a wonderfully complex floral arabesque set over a stately burgundy-red field. Grand vine scrolls, spiraling tendrils and graceful floral sprays create a well-balanced composition that combines a marvelous variety of large- and small-scale motifs. The beautifully oxidized field incorporates a richly variegated abrash with textural color variations that range from saturated burgundy reds to soft orangey hues. The phenomenal main borders depict superbly detailed palmettes flanked by pairs of dramatic bifurcated botanical motifs. Magnificent guardbands and minor borders decorated with serpentine cloudbands and reciprocating floral patterns create a tasteful and phenomenally detailed frame that highlights the grandiose floral arabesque featured within the stately field.
