Antique Khorassan “Shabby Chic” Carpet, Persia, 1900 — The dark field of this intricately detailed shabby chic antique carpet contains a repeating motif of interlocking, highly ornate, delicate cream and red blossoms. The broad red border displays flowers and leaves in bluish-gray, green and cream colors. It is surrounded by some eight narrower guard borders, all bearing decorative scrolling geometric patterns with a predominantly floral theme. Khorassan rugs and carpets gained wide acclaim because of the excellent craftsmanship and attention to elaborate, complex details with the composition.
