Antique Light Blue Persian Heriz Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Known for their unique style and sophisticated Persian motifs, this outstanding antique Heriz Serapi rug created circa 1890 features an elegant angular arabesque rendered in a classic selection of regional colors, including warm chestnut brown, oxidized Persian blue and peachy pastel pinks. Meandering leaf and vine scroll borders embellished with delicate floral sprays and foliage tendrils enclose the elaborate field. Rendered in an angular style synonymous with Persia’s northwestern region, this elegant antique carpet features a multitude of angular botanical motifs connected by branching vines and carefully outlined stems. Delicate rosettes, oxidized leaflets and grand palmettes decorate the exquisitely abrashed field allowing the beautifully aged background colors to peek through the botanical arabesque. These formal motifs and quirky vine-scrolls gently support the central rosette medallion and formal botanical emblems that the loosely spaced vine-scrolls surround.
