Each large blossom, perfectly aligned within row and column, is unique in color and design, sharing similarities but never identical. The antique rug’s flowers are symmetrical around alternating diagonal axes, and many are stitched with several layers of color, giving them more depth and allure. Smaller flowers decorate the space around these blooming ornaments, the largest nestled in the junctions between the main pattern’s rows. Smaller blossoms of varying designs, including two-toned spirals and simply styled circular florets, sprout along with curling fronds from dark vines. Broad yellow bands enclose the central space, forming a vibrant set of borders. The widest band of this beautiful antique Persian Tabriz rug is also the most colorful, its bright background full of lavish ornaments alternating in a systematic array.
