Ivory Background Persian Antique Sultanabad Carpet, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – An elaborate pattern spills over the body of this antique Persian rug, repeating across the creamy central field. This beautiful antique rug features a complex design of dark red and blue twines around circular, multicolored blooms. A set of borders surrounds the pattern, two smaller bands mirrored around a wide red bar. The pair at the edge are dark with warm-hued flowers positioned around a twining vine. Next to them, creamy yellow strips feature delicate blossoms that alternate in color between light and dark. At the center of the set in the antique Persian Sultanabad carpet, a red background offsets light yellow and white detailing that picks out a braided motif of floral elements, touched with blue and black.
