Antique Large Size Sultanabad Carpet, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa date: 1900—  True to other varieties of Sultanabad rugs, this piece uses the presence of the background to make the elements at the foreground stand out even stronger. Several small borders frame a large, brilliant gold one, which is filled with flowing stems and leaves that connect several beige and blue flowers together in alternating patterns. At the very core of the rug is a midnight blue background that showcases several flowery arrangements, each set at diagonal ends with each other to highlight their flow. At this centerpiece, the carpet‘s other colors spring to life against the dark backdrop.
