Vintage Rug by Barbro Nilsson for Marta Maas, Country of origin: Sweden, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century — True to the elegantly understated atmosphere present in Swedish rugs, this Vintage rug by Narbro Nilsson showcases a simple pattern of squares, arranged in five rows of three. Blue is the defining color here, and every individual square is sewn in a different tone of blue, ranging from iceberg and periwinkle to sapphire and denim. Between each of the squares are light lines arranged in a rope-like pattern of beige and brown. These lines create contrast between each of the squares, while serving to unify them in a single, charming rug.
Barbro Nilsson created this piece while working at the famed Marta Maas Fjetterstrom studio as Artistic Director, after the founder’s death.
