Reminiscent of ancient Chinese rugs, this beautiful piece utilizes only two colors to create a stark degree of contrast between the foreground and the background, which serves to illuminate the presence of both. A single thick border surrounds the landscape at the heart of the vintage rug, itself framed on two sides by thinner borders that house a striking collection of winding flowers and stems within. Roaring lions and rearing antelope are present throughout, found in both the center and the border of the Indian rug.
