Beautiful Antique Caucasian Soumak Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasian, Circa Date: Early 20th Century – With deep, rich colors and elegant yet tribal shapes, this Caucasian rug, an antique Soumak rug, is a beautiful example of masterful craftsmanship and style. Deep, dusky blue elements are set against maroon and violet, with milky white lines breaking up the flow to create an even more natural landscape. Negative space is fluid as the colors stand against each other, creating distinct shapes and structures. Three borders surround this flat woven antique rug, the largest of which is sandwiched between the other two. Large, zig-zagging lines move across the foreground at the center of the carpet, and round, floral elements are established at key spaces around, appearing almost like floral booms.
