Moroccan Rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – This outstanding and rare vintage Moroccan rug is a colorful and vibrant example. Made in Morocco, during the middle part of the twentieth century, it is as beautiful a rug as it is representative of the artistic trends that dominated the world in which it was originally made. This exciting vintage Moroccan rug features a series of abstract patterns and geometric designs rendered in a chic combination of clear cobalt blue, burnt orange, Kohl black and brown. Variegated details emphasize the ethereal appearance of the subtle honeycomb motifs that drift across the field. Zigzagging snake motifs and hash mark details woven in contrasting colors line the edges of the field creating a final frame that completes the abstract tribal composition. The market for Moroccan rugs is as strong today (if not stronger!) than it has ever been. This is mostly due to the fact that they are exciting pieces, with a modernist feel. Just like this fantastic rug which is featured above!
