Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug, Caucasus, Circa 1900 – Rendered in a unique tribal-influenced style associated with Kazak weavers, this stately antique rug features an archetypal eagle medallion executed with a restrained combination of timeless colors. This definitive antique Kazak rug features two elaborate eagle medallions with feathered extensions that create a fantastic radiant pattern. Minute protection symbols and geometric glyphs decorate the subtly colored background while classic crab-motif borders enclose the warm chestnut brown field. Ivory main borders decorated with delicate crab motifs and conjoined appendages frame the chestnut brown field continuing the limited Persian blue and oxidized brick red color scheme. Created circa 1900, this sophisticated Kazak rug features a variety of Caucasian-influenced motifs, carefully outlined protection symbols and hooked devices rendered in a stately selection of beautifully oxidized colors.
