Moroccan Rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – Typical of Moroccan design in the mid 20th century, this rug features a diverse landscape. The symmetrical shapes at the middle of the rug represent the borders of land spanning out over the wilds. Outside of these borders are small flowers, penned in by a careful hand. The land comes to a jagged end, representing the mysterious waters outside of the land. A horned beast rises from the ocean, looking onto the grassy shores. A human figure is clearly depicted standing in the middle of the innermost divide of land. The trident shapes fleck the land, representing leafless trees. A truly beautiful design. The neutral coloring of the piece allows it to be paired with any variety of different colored furniture.
