Antique Khotan Rug, Country of Origin: East Turkestan, Circa 1900 — Showcasing delicate shades of sepia and cream, this Khotan carpet stands out for its skillful use of beautifully detailed borders. The work features interlocking Greek key designs in buttermilk and deep navy, with more detailed floral figures bordering the area. These shapes create an exquisite flow of soft tangerine that is complemented with mocha accents and hints of pale azure. A large section of negative space grounds images of navy vases, pale posies and branching flora. Interlocking corner details and a large, dominating medallion that features goldenrod filigrees create exquisite designs that allow the viewer’s eyes to comfortably settle over the piece.
