Modern Silk and Wool Tabriz Rug, Persia, circa 1980’s – Here is a beautifully designed and truly lovely modern carpet – a silk and wool Tabriz rug that was woven in Persia during the latter decades of the twentieth century. This impressive carpet is impeccably woven throughout, and features gorgeous floral and vine scroll detail work throughout. Despite its relative modernity, this carpet features many of the flourishes of classical Persian rug design that are considered to be most desirable by admirers and collectors. The central medallion format, as well as the series of inner and outer borders, corner pieces, and overall symmetrical styling are all elements of classical Persian carpet design. This carpet is also enhanced by a delightful color pallet of ivories and reds. Almost the entire field is colored ivory, which makes the delicate vine scroll detail work stand out beautifully. The inverse is true of the excellent borders, which utilize a red shade as the background color, but ivory details on top. A beautiful composition, this modern Tabriz carpet is an exceptional work.
