Antique Turkish Ghiordes Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: Early 20th Century– This Turkish rug is centered with three columns that feature rectangular designs like a trinket cabinet. The two outer columns match each other, and the entire body is symmetrical about the long axis. Balancing red, slate gray, and yellow over a cream field, the designs feature trees, stylized floral patterns and abstract but intricate designs. A wide band forms the border of this area rug, filled with a repeating pattern of gold diamond figures, each nestling a red flower in alternating large and small versions. This Ghiordes rug border is edged with smaller strips of cream occupied by stylized red ovals, complementing the design of the wider bar.
