Antique Baluch Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa 1900 — This small Baluch rug establishes an abstract and pleasantly defined atmosphere. Traditional elements abound in the small border around the center. Within the framework of this border are several vibrant diamonds, the negative space between all of diamonds forming their own distinct patterns. At the center of the rug is a series of stripes running diagonally. Smoldering tones that combine bright reds with charcoal blacks and sooty grays alternate in their stripes, resulting in a wave-like effect that makes the central field appear as though it is warm to the touch.
