Antique All Over Design Square Size Persian Heriz Serapi Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa date: Late 19th Century –  A beautiful and meticulously woven antique carpet – an antique Heriz Serapi carpet – features an exceptional design. This antique Serapi Heriz rug beautifully communicates some of the more important attributes of this important and widely admired antique Persian rug style. Heriz-Serapi carpets like this with allover designs are less well known than those with grand central medallion compositions, but here the bold dynamic drawing and exquisite use of color are nonetheless classically Heriz. Here the design relies on salient diagonal, leafy fronds in blue, green, and gold that create a latent effect of open diamond medallions, interspersed with large stylized rosettes and smaller flowers. The beauty of the palette is underscored against the dramatic blue-black ground. The more finely drawn rosette and vine-scroll border provides the perfect contrast in color and scale to the sweeping grandeur of the field.  The large scale pattern and the juxtaposition of the lighter colors against the darker background gives the rug a real artistic impact and overall happy look.
