Beautiful and Finely Woven Antique Persian Tabriz Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rug, Circa Date: 1920 – A lavish array of nested medallions fills the body of this antique Persian rug, each arranged concentrically to form a beautifully colored design reminiscent of a hamsa. Each layer of the antique Persian Tabriz rug is backed in a different hue from the next, changing more frequently nearer the center, which seems to lead endlessly on with ever smaller components. A detailed flower in the middle sets the theme, and each level brims with lovely blossoms formed with delicate stitches. Smooth curves joined with bold angles form arabesque boundaries between each zone of this antique rug. Overlapping figures continue up through each of the four corners of this large size antique rug, and an elaborate set of borders surrounds the central area. Black bands full of golden flowers and leaves flank a broad, white strip, the primary border, which is full of ornate, flowering decorations.
