Large Ardabil Design Antique Persian Khorassan Carpet, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century – Epitomizing the lavish curve-linear style of Persia, this sublime antique Persian Khorassan carpet depicts a superb Sheikh Safi medallion surrounded by the 16 requisite ovoid embellishments, two ornate censer-shaped pendants and a maze of re-curving vine scrolls with spiraling tendrils. The iconic Ardabil carpet design medallions appear again in the lavish spandrels, which feature opulent interwoven vine scrolls and extraordinarily detailed botanical decorations. The spiraling curve-linear botanical motifs and superfluous embellishments cover the sumptuous burgundy field with layers of detail-rich patterns. Multiple sets of narrow guard bands and grand main borders filled with lush botanical decorations, sweeping boteh motifs and superfluous accents conclude the regal composition of this elaborate antique Persian Khorassan rug.
