Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920 – The beautiful rich gray background of this antique Persian rug is adorned with an ornate pattern that fills the space with warm hues of yellow, orange and red, touched with hints of blue. White outlines add a dimension to the clusters of leaves and blossoms spreading over the surface, neatly contrasting the darkness of the backdrop. A jagged, saw-like edge stitched in red encloses the central field, of this antique rug, leading to a set of elaborate borders. A yellow band brims with flowers still on the vine, resting next to a darker orange band with white and yellow flowers connected by a stem. The widest, bright orange band features layered, circular flowers in yellow, red and black which really add an artistic and modern flair to this antique Persian Sultanabad rug.
