Vintage Turkish Kilim Carpet, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century– A vibrant design of roses is centered upon this vintage Turkish carpet, heavily stylized red blossoms stitched against a black background. Green and white leaves angle away from the red floral bodies, and a white border at the top and bottom of the central field sprouts its own botanical decorations. Edged with zigzags, a white band surrounds the entirety. A faint green line bounces around this border, paired leaves springing from each corner. As if growing from a vine, small red flowers shaped like crosshatches with black centers rest in each space. A continuation of the black background along the jagged outer line of this border creates the Kilim rug’s rectangular form.
