Finely Woven Floral Vase Pattern Antique Persian Kerman Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th century – A graceful tree of life design unfolds on this antique Persian rug within an open tan field enclosed by dark blue flowering corner-pieces on this supremely elegant and reserved antique Kerman rug. The various flowers blossom forth from the tree in a lovely array of colors – soft reds, lavender, pale, blues and greens, and tans. These tones recur in the corner-pieces along with a rich saffron shade. The vine-scroll borders are narrow and simple, deferring to the main design of the field. Though ornamental, the field is also pictorial, depicting as it does a garden-like scene of paradise.
