Early Antique Tribal Kurdish Shrub Design Runner Rug, Country Of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rug, Circa Date: 1800 – True to the traditional style of many Kurdish rugs, this attractive runner rug uses simple symmetry and motion to direct the viewer’s attention from the top of the antique rug to its bottom. The thickest border features a bright yellow background, inspiring warmth and standing as an excellent field of contrast for the elements in the foreground. Angular plants and beautiful growths move along the interior, accentuated further by the two darker and thinner borders surrounding the yellow one. As the patterns repeat, a seamless transition is introduced to the center of the rug, where the vast majority of the activity takes place. Here, in this beautiful antique Persian rug, viewers are treated to a collection of shrubs, symmetrically placed but featuring alternating color patterns. Milky white, royal indigo, bright red and elegant vermilion are all established at different sections to provide viewers with plenty of variety as their eyes travel downward across the runner.
