Along the journey, the artist elegantly portrays several landmarks and points of interest that are meant to captivate the viewer’s attention, especially when set against the striking contrast of the borders. Darker, warm tones stand out against lighter, sandy beiges, resulting in a beautiful degree of variety between the foreground and the background, to the point where the two may seem interchangeable to the viewer. At the foreground, several diamond shapes line down the length of the Persian rug, not unlike peacock feathers as they trail down in a stunning display of color and form.
